Marvelous Market

This Saturday's was a cool and balmy farmers' market in Portland.  A timely break in this week's staggering heat, Saturday morning greeted us with cloudy, warm Northwest coziness.  When I arrived at nine thirty the market was already in full swing, families were bustling about with wagons full of toddlers and Sungold tomatoes.

How gratifying and pleasant it is to exchange the vegetables you planted and picked, for cold hard cash no less!  Not to be a stinky capitalist but there's something surprisingly satisfying about the whole thing.  Not to mention you get to shoot the shit with people--in a business-like fashion, of course.

I should have pictures because our spread today was mighty fine, but I didn't bring along my camera (a person can only do so much).  Eggplants, peppers, garlic and Tromboncino squash...

Not my picture, but you get the idea...and you can eat it!!

Yes, growing and selling vegetables is an awfully excellent way to spend your time...
