On Thursday afternoon Peter and I said goodbye and so long to Brownsville for a few nights and hit the road to Portland for the weekend. It was a nice one, sunny, full of good people and fuzzy dogs. The impetus for our trip was the Old Time Music Gathering, where Pete got to jam on the banjo to his heart's content.
We picked up some essential items from the big city. Scored a vacuum cleaner, organic greens and some Crocs for cheese-making. Pete got to meet some of his Old Time heros and I got to hang out with mine. I'm working on getting my fishing game together so that I can spend some time on the Santiam river in between milking shifts at Fraga. I would also like to do some canoeing and kayaking as well once the weather gets nicer.
I can't wait to get to work tomorrow (can you believe that?) and start milking those goats all over again. Thursday morning's milking went very well and I felt like I was really getting a hang of how the set-up and break-down of the milking routine works. We'll see if a long weekend of beer drinking interrupted my learning curve. Hopefully not too much.
Until tomorrow!
