One Day, Many Projects

Today was a day of many projects.  I enjoy projects!  This morning I installed grommets all along the edge of a tarp we are now using as the roof of our outdoor "harvest room".  It's really more of a tent over a sink, but it works!  Installing the grommets required a degree of handy-work which was fun and made me feel useful.

I cooked lunch for the gang today (project #2).  Made stir-fried veggies (carrots, cabbage, purple broccoli, yams and pea shoots), brown rice and a big old salad with lots of excellent toppings (hard-boiled duck eggs, toasted walnuts, apple).  Making a beautiful lunch for everybody is endlessly satisfying and really strikes a chord with my Jewish mother gene.

After lunch we hung the tarp in the harvest room and then I planted lots and lots of squash (project #3), until all of a sudden it was 6 o'clock, which is swim time.  So I headed off to the pool to swim a mile and then hit the bank to deposit my very first paycheck from the farm--oo la la!  Went for a long drive after my swim and enjoyed the breath-taking sunset. Wish I had snapped a picture, but alas.

Tomorrow is the farmer's market on ze beach!  Cannot wait.
