Luxurious Life

Growing up I had the tremendous opportunity to spend some time in Hawai'i.  Supposedly the most remote land mass on the planet, Hawai'i is home to some incredible species of flora and fauna.  Aside from all the obvious wonderful things about these islands (warm Pacific ocean, impossibly good weather, Pog juice at every grocery store) the sounds and smells of Hawai'i are what always stuck with me.

Springtime in Oregon reminds me of Hawai'i.  Here in the country it seems like the birds are singing all day long and the sweet smell of warm humidity and fertile land fills the air just after a rain.  Today after a long day of work I went for a mile swim, which always makes me feel like I am on vacation.  Now as I sit in my room, the birds are still singing their songs late into the evening and I am reminded of Hawai'i.  I allow the sounds and smells to transport me and my whole life feels a little like a holiday.
