Yesterday I had the divine opportunity to visit the legendary Big Table Farm. Not only did I taste some very excellent wine, I bore witness to a honey bee swarm capture. What a beautifully bizarre natural phenomenon! Luckily Master Bee-Keeper Laura was there to capture those beguiling buzzy bugs.

Seeing all the livestock over at Big Table was truly exceptional and totally solidified my love of the "more-than-human" world (to steal a phrase from David Abram). Being around so many kinds of animals, be it for 20 minutes or every day, makes one appreciate the world outside of oneself to a degree that nothing else does. For example, here at Gales Meadow we have ducks that wander around eating the (evil) slugs off our tasty vegetables. Not only are the ducks helpful (they also give us delicious eggs), just watching them quack around like a gaggle of teenage girls brings sunshine to my already cheery life. Clare has countless chickens (for eggs and for meat), cows, draft horses, bees, dogs, and one lonely goat.
What a joy it is to be surrounded by so many delightful role models who know exactly what living life is all about!
