A Day in Pictures

Good morning!  It's another beautiful day here at Gales Meadow Farm and here's what I get to see the moment I open my eyes (fish flag sold separately).  After breakfast this morning, my co-worker and I cleared all the weed barrier out of one of our fields to make room for the sub-soiler and tiller, during which we found this lovely fellow...

The poppies are finally blooming and goddamn were they looking glorious in morning's super-flat and even light.

We have four cats here on the farm, one of whom has taken to sleeping in my bed, all of whom are deadly mouse and vole killers.

This is Francine the three-legged cat, she's a differently-abled Princess

Maggie's a total panther babe, who hung out and cuddled with Maureen and me as we harvested garlic scallions this afternoon.  More on that later...

Stewart the pet bunny, legend has it that when it came time for him to be slaughtered many years ago, no one could go through with it because he's just too damn personable.  He especially likes clover and dandelion greens.

This morning when it came time to till the fields, I had to save these calendula that were growing wildly out there.  Now they're on the dining room table.  I am a total flower fiend.

After lunch (I made chili, cornbread and coleslaw, it was pretty great) it was harvest time.  We got an order in for 10 lbs of garlic scallions.  Maureen and I managed to estimate the weight of veggies picked within 2 ounces.  Here they are before and after their cut-and-color...

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, friends!  Until next time.
