Da Weekend

Another weekend gone by.  I went party-hopping, played a lot of pool and made some latkes.  Friday morning was a busy one!  I woke up at 5:30am so that I could shower, eat breakfast, drive to work and start milking by seven.  Finished at a quarter to nine, J+L were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and early I'd milked.  Had the place tidy and sanitized by 9:15.  Had to be at my second job by 10, so I had time to stop by the hip beatnik coffee spot, Starbucks.  Did you know that for the same price, they will brew you an individual cup of coffee pour-over style?  Just ask!

At my second job I cleaned out the barn in my new coveralls which Julie (the boss) gave me.  Raked up pony doodie and threw it in the tractor.  Next week we're going to kill some chickens for stewing.  At noon the vet showed up to grind down some teeth.  He let me wear his head-lamp and I got to peer inside the mouth of that huge sedated being.

In the evening Pete and I walked downtown to the saloon, our new favorite hangout where we eat burgers, drink beer and play pool.  Do not underestimate the extreme fun-ness of those activities in conjunction with one another.  The jukebox ain't bad either.  Passed out around 9:30.

Saturday was great too.  Pete and I met up with the homies Natalie and Mike in Eugene, where Mike is still in school.  I worked with both of them in the kitchen of a summer camp a couple years back. We hung around Eugene that afternoon, ate ice cream, almost bought a piñata, laughed and played like young folk do.  It was our friend Jake's birthday Saturday night, so we all met up at a Japanese whisky bar called Izakaya Meiji and had delicious cocktails (I had a Manhattan with Bulleit Rye, and yes it did the trick...more than once).

Afterwards Jake had an old-fashioned Oregon basement house party!  There was a keg of PBR and chickens in the backyard, a pool table and a sauna in this funky old house.  By midnight the crew was all super pooped and Mike the DD drove us all back to his house where I fall asleep on a mountain of blankets in about four seconds.

Sunday morning we hung around Eugene for a few hours.  I bought a very excellent yellow lamp for the living room.  Came home and started prepping lunch because Miss Rachel and her puppy Piper were comin' down to Browntown for a visit.  I made applesauce and latkes and Peter mastered the salad.  We had a very civilized luncheon and evening.
