Counting my Blessings

I just finished watching the documentary Happy.  Among a myriad of different practices, it pointed to the positive effect of counting one's blessings.  So, once a week every week, this is something I shall do.  Five things for which I am thankful.

1.  The able body which steers me around this planet.  I forget sometimes how much I am capable of.  I am thankful for my health and strength.

2.  My family and their health, this goes without saying.  My parents are extremely loving and supportive of me.  What a pleasure it is to spend time with them!

3.  My friends who love and accept me for who I am, quirks and eccentricities included.  They give me a sense of joy and comfort.

4.  Loving what I do.  I am so lucky to have a job that I genuinely love.  Coming back here after a week away reminded me how much fun I have at work.

5.  The (necessary) luxuries I take for granted every day: toilets, clean water, nutritious food, the freedom to pursue activities I find enjoyable, these are all necessities that every human should be allowed.
