Another Day Gone By

Today was a completely normal day on ze farm.  I can't believe tomorrow is Friday again and another week has gone by.  Furthermore, it is exactly one week from my birthday.  How did it become mid-July?  When did I get so tan?

Here is exactly what I did on my totally normal day (today)!

6:00  Alarm

6:10  Get out of bed

6:15  Water and breakfast: bran cereal, goat milk, half a banana, half a peach

7:00  While drinking hot coffee from a pint glass I collect duck and chicken eggs, feed them both.  This is my favorite part of the day right here.  Except for dusk, which I like equally.

7:30  By this time the sun has already risen beyond the eastern hill and it's just starting to warm up.  I pick bolted lettuce, clover, pea shoots and grass for the bunnies, change their water.

8:00  Check in with Anne, turn on irrigation and weed garlic.

9:00  Decide I'm sick of weeding, walk around with tool belt and fix leaks in the drip tape irrigation.

10:00 Clean out coolers, put away ice packs and organize empty pots and flats.

10:45  Farm Walk, everyone walked around together and talked about what needs to get done on the farm and I took notes.

12:30  I typed up said notes and made a feeding chart for the animals (who are very well fed, if I might add).

1:30  Anne made lunch, delicious Tuna with wild rice and fava beans.  We eat well.

2:30  After lunch I passed the f*** out for about 90 minutes.

4:00  Walk around and turn off all the irrigation.  Prune some tomatoes and tie them to their bamboo cages.

5:15  Go to the pool!  Today I swam a mile in about 43 minutes, which is exactly totally average for me.

6:45 Get home, eat a quick dinner of vegetables

8:00 Go over to the Monahan's to milk the goats.

9:00  Come home and have a beer, read some book, listen to The Rentals and fold laundry, think about what I'm gonna make for breakfast.

11:00  Pass the f*** out again.

My next post is going to be a lot more interesting and about goats.  Stay tuned.
