Wow, what a wonderful few days it has been! I know these recent posts have been pretty
unrelated to farming, but I promise we will get back on track starting
tomorrow.

On Sunday night up in Tahoe came a surprise visit from the fantastic Rae and Bryce Hample, who were driving in Rae’s awesome new 1996 Rav4 from Mendocino to Albuquerque, and made a pit stop to visit and stay the night with us. Of course, we made good use of the hot tub—I even spilled my cocktail in it! That’s evidence of how much fun we had.
Once the lovely siblings left on Monday morning, Mom and I went for a lovely hike along Sage Hen Creek, where we only got a little lost. In fact, our inability to follow a simple there-and-back trail led us to witness two large waterbirds, brown and probably four feet tall, walking across a meadow. Our guess is that they were brown herons. Magnificent.

After our hike I made Mom and me a lunch of green salad, hard boiled egg & home-made chili and cornbread. It was super gross.

NOT!
On Tuesday I woke up early and went for a quick swim before hitting the airport, which was full of these...
My flight back to Portland was moderately unpleasant, but I was greeted by an evening full of wonderful, happy times with my crazy friends. Among other wholesome activities, some homies came over and ran-sacked my place, taking more or less whatever they wanted from my furniture, closet and kitchen, which meant a whole lot of oatmeal.
